The Atlantic coast of Northern Spain is a place of wild beauty, where the sea and the land meet in an endless variety of forms. From the rugged shores of Asturias and Cantabria to the dramatic coastline of the Basque Country, every stretch of coast has its own character, shaped by the powerful forces of the Atlantic.
What fascinates me most is the incredible diversity of the rocks and geological formations. Cliffs, reefs, sea stacks, arches and tide pools emerge from the ocean in shapes and patterns that constantly change with the light, weather and tide. Some formations are bold and monumental, while others reveal their beauty only when you slow down and look closely.
The weather adds another layer to the experience. Heavy clouds, rain, mist and dramatic light can transform the same coastline within minutes, creating fleeting moments that are especially rewarding to capture through landscape photography. I particularly enjoy photographing these landscapes when the conditions are unsettled, as the combination of powerful waves, changing light and dark skies gives the coast a unique atmosphere.
