The Elbe Sandstone Mountains, stretching along the border between the Czech Republic and Saxony, Germany, are one of my favourite landscapes to photograph. The Czech part is known as Bohemian Switzerland, while the German side is called Saxon Switzerland. Together, they form a unique landscape of sandstone cliffs, rock towers, deep gorges, forests and misty valleys.
This is where I truly fell in love with landscape photography. I have returned to the Elbe Sandstone Mountains countless times over the years, photographing them in different seasons and weather conditions. The landscape changes dramatically with fog, snow, autumn colours, rain and changing light, constantly revealing new possibilities for photography.
I am particularly drawn to the area´s misty valleys, dramatic sandstone formations and dense forests. Early mornings are often my favourite time to photograph here, when fog fills the valleys and the first light gradually touches the sandstone towers and surrounding woodland.
The Elbe Sandstone Mountains remain one of the places that have influenced my photography the most. No matter how many times I return, there always seems to be another composition, another mood or another moment waiting to be discovered.
